Are you making a fake commute to work each day

This is a very interesting article that talks about the fake commutes people are doing to stay healthy during the Lockdown.

I think more and more people are doing this as the secret paths and walkways in my suburban neighborhood are becoming crowded around 6:00 am and 6:00 pm each day. The old 12 hour work day.

Lola and I used to have these places to ourselves. I am noticing snow shoe tracks and other footprints in the very deep snow that I have never seen before.

Are you trying to relive those old work commutes by going for a one hour walk twice a day ? I guess some commutes used to be 2-3 hours each way.... sitting in a car or bus. Do you miss those days ?

I like my commutes these days much better...

I've had the (mis)fortune of working from home for the last 4 years. It definitely has it's ups and downs. There are days - particularly on weekends - where I've gone absolutely stircrazy sitting in the house and "good god I need to get out". This happens more often than not, and one of the side effects is that house projects have been put off, and off, and off.

What I do not do, however, is the fake commute. What I do instead, when able, is to go for a lunch time bike ride for anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. It helps. A lot.

It’s funny that people are calling it a fake commute... since they miss the interval between home life and office life .... why not just call it a walk in the morning and evening. My favourite part of the day was going for coffee at Starbucks in the morning on my way to work. Now I have a coffee at home and take Lola for walk before logging in to work. I just don’t need a car anymore. And I’m fine with that.
