All people, regardless of age or size, require comfort on certain days for various reasons. Christians need the grounded, pragmatic consolation found in God's Word, not the fluffy, romantic type. This comfort is well-founded. There is solace for individuals nearing the end of their days on this planet. God's Word provides consolation to those going through difficult times where there are more demands than resources.

One preacher used to keep a little card with a Bible scripture on it in his pocket every day. He was once asked to do things that were nearly too much for him to do. Physical, mental, and spiritual exhaustion challenged his sense of direction and control. He took the card out of his pocket as he waited for the lights to change at an intersection on his way to see a sick person. He was shocked to see the following words on the card: (Psalm 118:24).

He felt the weight immediately release. "The world became full of truth, goodness, and beauty," he declared. My heart turned radiant and poetic, and I approached that day and life with the mindset of a victor. What took place? The world did not abruptly change, but rather, God's Word gave the circumstances vitality and clarity, which altered his perspective on it. This individual is just one of many who may make the same claim because they have found solace and inspiration in the pages of God's Word. It is reliable, useful, and transformative. I adore the Bible because it provides stability and support through life's ups and downs, even death.

We live in the information age. The velocity at which technology is developing is astounding. Sharing information has never been easier thanks to the growth of the Internet. A friend in Canada needs surgery, and although if his usual address is someplace in Nigeria, his friends and family may quickly learn about the problem thanks to the power of email. A need for prayer arises on the other side of the globe, undetected and unannounced. Words have the amazing ability to either build or destroy.
