I read the Carl Sagan book "Comet" years ago. One thing I remember from it, was Carl talking about how scientists were already then (80s) working on the ability to steer comets and asteroids, under the guise of protecting us from impacts (like the one that killed most dinosaurs). He pointed out that if some country does gain the ability to steer such things, they will have the power to send something directly at their enemies, or to purposely destroy humanity (or everybody that isn't in a very well stocked underground city). I forgot about it until recently, but he was right. And I am 100% certain that's why the powers that shouldn't be are researching the ability to steer comets and other massive objects. It's not to save us. And the total silence on this (have you even heard anyone else bring it up?) is deafening to me. They are silent about it not because it's not possible, but because they're glad nobody seems aware of it yet and hope to keep it that way until it's too late.
Just one way they could either pull the plug, or cause devastation in an entire region, a tsunami, death of hundreds of millions, etc. They love that shit.
