My Favourite Color Challenge:👻👻👻 Thursday Green

Actually I probably lie - I get excited about every colour, but green tickles my elbows and toes because it's the colour of the natural world. Actually that's bollocks too - nature is all colours, attested by the colour challenge every day on Blurt where we have sunsets and flowers and everything in between.

Sometimes we get colours in places we don't expect. I give to you, therefore, GREEN MUSHROOMS. Imagine my squeal of delight when I saw these babies.

Wait what... They aren't GREEN, you say!! They are brown and white!!! Yup. This is Omphalotus nidiformis. It's common name is the ghost mushroom 👻👻👻 because it glows in the dark.

Now, here's where the green comes in. I had to use Google images as I was too scared to go back on my own in the dark.

But here's your Thursday Green. .. wow, huh?

They are fairly tricky to photograph, and I hear it's better on nights with mild temperatures. There's more than one ghost mushroom species but these are the most common in the south of Australia and in Tasmania.

And for those of you who are annoyed with me for messing with your head with ghosts and not green mushrooms, here's some ACTUAL green fungi, photographed at kunanyi or Mt Wellington, the big mountain that overlooks Hobart, Tasmania.

Ammmmaaazing, right?
