My work is usually slow down around this time because most of the big losses are off. That means no meeting, no email, or no special projects. I would leave my staffs alone too, so they can enjoy the holiday and go out having lunch with coworkers or friends. This year is totally different because most of us are working home, we haven’t seen each other over nine months, and we have so much works and special projects now.
Due to this pandemic, the quarterly report we work on much complicate. We have to gather much more information and data to generate our report. The items and the amount on the report are getting bigger and bigger. It is getting difficult for us to keep track of them. Also, my other team works on reconciliation having trouble to research and gathering data and documents. It’s difficult to work with other people to resolve issues. But my team still manages to meet deadline and complete the works on time.
Then the upper management kept assigning more and more special projects to us. Most of them are very complicated and time consuming. I kept pushing the team working harder and harder the last couple months. I felt kind of burn out this week. Now it’s holiday, can you give us some times to breathe ?
My boss is a very cool guy, and he understands how much my team did. After he talked to me, he told his boss that we were not only just working on the special projects, and we still had our daily regular assignments. The team had stretched to the limit. Those new bosses may not know what we are doing, but at least my boss listens to us. Hope he can provide us more helps.
I really don’t know if I should tell my staff happy holiday because the team is working like crazy at this year end. I hope all of my staff are looking forward of our three days weekends, and have a happy new year!
