Cannabis legalization takes another step
On December 2, 2020, the United Nations changed the category of cannabis with 27 votes in favor and 25 votes against it, changing it from the narcotic category to the medical category.
Cannabis was removed from the "Narcotics Convention" and became a medical product.
Prior to this, only more than 50 countries in the world regarded cannabis as a medicinal plant for medical use.
Most countries treat it as a narcotic or drug addiction.
Those who voted in favor were mainly European countries and the United States.
Those who voted against it were mainly Russia, China, Egypt and other countries.
This move may prompt more countries to use cannabis for medicinal purposes and medical research.
At present, marijuana is still prohibited for non-medical purposes, only for medical and research purposes.
