Preparing lands for cinnamon plantations

Hello Friends, It's @besticofinder here.

This post is about clearing a land and preparing it for cinnamon cultivation. People do this process for centuries. Clearing land and making it prepared for cultivation is the hardest part. We have to remove all the stones , weeds , bushes and even the well-grown large trees. We do it to eliminate the unnecessary vegetation, otherwise they will compete with cinnamon for nutrients , sunlight and water.

We used a dozer to clear this land. It took 5 days to clear 2 aches of land. Any way it's profitable than using workers for this process. A dozer is powerful enough to do all these work , uprooting trees , pulling stones and arranging the soil etc. When considering the cost for renting small dozer like this in sri Lanka , it will cost around 1500 LKR per hour ( around 60 steem / hour ). And to clear a 1 acre land it will take 2 , 10 hour working days. That's means around 30000 LKR per acre. So it's really profitable than using workers for this process.

After removing the trees , the start to dry with sunlight. Then we can collected them and burn them as follows. They burn well when they are more dry. This is the final step of the process. After burning all the dried trees and bushes the land is ready for cinnamon cultivation.

Next time rather than burning them you should look into making biochar and composting the green stuff to add back to the soil.

Yes I totally agree with you. One of my colleagues also pointed me my mistake. Thank you
