Dune: Part Two... did I like it?

You know, there are times in life when you get chances that are just too good to leave them out. Well, on Thursday I had such a chance. There was this leap-year celebration in the local cinema, meaning that they offered cinema tickets at a price of $4 in which you get to see Dune: Part Two, you get to eat for thirty minutes before the movie starts (all sorts of soups, pizza, main dishes and more), and then you can bring unlimited popcorn, nachos, and drinks into the cinema. And there were only 32 seats available in total for this, so when I realized it, I quickly bought four tickets and brought my wife and two kids along.

To be honest, it was for the experience, because none of us had seen the fist Dune movie, so we had no clue what to expect, and I had no intention of seeing the movie in the second movie.. but as this offer came up, I couldn't resist.

Honestly, the food was great, and so was the nachos. But the movie.. well, it was a great production, but I had great trouble understanding anything, because there were so many "houses" involved, and I didn't really understand who were who, and what was going on.

In other words, a great movie, but you should definitely see the first movie first to get a greater understanding and pleasure watching the second movie.

I should also add that I don't really like those desert movies, so I strongly disliked Mad Max a few years ago, and I have no intention of watching the upcoming Mad Max movie in the cinema in not so long (unless I get a fantastic offer like I did with Dune: Part Two.

What about you? Are you looking forward to Dune: Part Two? Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

Yep, as a fan of the Dune universe, I enjoyed the David Lynch version and spent hours playing the excellent games Dune and Dune II, After a surprising and interesting Part I, I'm curious to see Part II. If you want to know more about Dune, you can read the books by Frank Herbert.
