The Ravenous - Les affames

I don't hide the fact that I have a tendency to watch zombie movies and after every zombie movie I watch, I can't help but say to myself "that was the end". Even though I know that end will never come, zombie movies somehow find their place in my recurring watch list...

...but I think this time it was the last time! The reason I say this is because I saw a terrible zombie movie. Clichéd stories with certain themes are very successful in terms of popularity. Zombie movies are one of these themes and almost every country has its own zombie movie.

It really feels like we need the dead to rise up and walk around thirsting for flesh and blood. The Walking Dead wasn't the first of these, but it was the most important, at least for me.

After the rapid spread of a virus that somehow emerged, all the dead came back to life and brought the apocalypse to the world. In the aftermath of such a scenario, the apocalyptic world was in chaos, all systems collapsed and all borders disappeared with the destruction of countries. The only fact that would not bother me in this scenario would be the disappearance of borders.

Anyway, let's move from the good to the bad without getting too distracted. Released in 2017, The Ravenous - Les affames is a Canadian film that deals with the post-zombie world apocalypse through the eyes of a few characters.

The emergence of the virus and its rapid spread as an epidemic fits the reality of familiar zombie stories. But the zombies in the movie are not the slow, shuffling kind. On the contrary, they move with the speed and intelligence of a human. I thought that this would broaden the already wide-ranging zombie theme and enrich the story.

It's not hard to guess that ideas don't always match reality, but expectation can override reason. In terms of the story, the way it was handled, the acting, the shooting and the flow, the movie was very bad. It was behind even an ordinary production. What surprised me was the IMDB score. 7 points were given for the movie, which I thought should not exceed 3 points. I choose to shut up by saying that tastes and colors are indisputable.

Of course, I will not recommend watching the movie in which no character stands out and neither the beginning nor the end is clear. So why did you watch it? Let me give the answer for whoever this question comes to mind. I watched it because I was curious to see where the journey of a group of people to survive would lead, but in the end I realized that it was nothing but a waste of time.
