In the midst of a father who is always drunk and gambling, and a mother who is sick and pregnant, the character Cáit (played by Catherine Clinch) is a little girl who tries to express her situation by choosing silence.
Originally titled An Cailín Ciúin, in English, The Quiet Girl is the story of Cáit's life.
Silence sometimes speaks volumes. While the movie The Quiet Girl handles drama very well throughout its story, it has the effect of being able to magically touch many life stories with the theme of silence through the character of Cáit.
The turning point in Cáit's life story is when she is given to a foster family to spend the summer from her own home where she struggles with problems. While we expect the story to unfold in this way, the emergence of a new story adds to the pleasure of watching the movie.
Although full of problems, I don't know how much is enough to describe Cáit's drama when he is taken from a house he is used to and knows everyone in it, and left alone in a house he doesn't know, with people he doesn't know.
During the screening, I thought that the whole story was built around the stages of her being taken out of a bad environment and being given a good life where love and respect are priorities. In this respect, I found the way the drama was handled and the way the effects on the character were reflected quite successful.
Going from a bad life to a life full of beauty is very successful in terms of the story. However, the secret that is revealed in a few scenes makes the movie and the story more impressive.
Of all the drama films I've seen recently, I really liked the story of The Quiet Girl and the acting of Catherine Clinch as Cáit. Each of the scenes in which the actress tried to explain many things with her silence was worth seeing.
The movie is not only Cáit's drama from the moment the secret is revealed. After the secret is revealed, the characters Eibhlín (played by Carrie Crowley) and Seán (played by Andrew Bennett) identify their drama with Cáit and turn sadness into happiness.
You should definitely watch The Quiet Girl, which can be watched with the family and is very successful in terms of drama. During the viewing, you better understand that silence is a big scream and you are under the influence of the story within the story.
