A kind-hearted and dedicated nurse is in charge of caring for a comatose patient. Over time, however, she realizes that there is a remarkable picture underneath this seemingly simple situation. As she constantly monitors her comatose patient, she decides to embark on an investigation and learn about her patient's past and secrets. But behind these secrets lie unexpected and shocking truths. In fact, this comatose person may have a criminal past.
When I read the plot of Locked In, one of #Netfilix's new productions, I thought it would be quite boring, but I realized I was wrong within the first five minutes of the movie.
What kind of viewing pleasure can a nurse caring for a comatose patient and her investigations offer? My answer to this question is that the plot and the content of the movie are two different things.
There is a character of a nurse taking care of a comatose patient, but the story is not about the nurse's care of the patient and her research, as the plot suggests. Rather, the story starts at the end of the investigations and when everything is about to be revealed, cause and effect.
After watching the movie, which I tend not to watch based on the subject matter, I remembered the saying "don't judge a book by its cover." If I hadn't watched it, I would have missed Locked In with its scenes full of suspense and mystery, which I thought was excellent. Or I would have had the chance to watch it in later years.
Anyway, I watched the movie and Netflix's successful productions increased by +1. If I evaluate the year 2023 in terms of Netflix, I must say that they had some pretty good movies this year. If I were to choose the best of them, I would have to strain my memory quite a bit.
Of all the characters in Locked In, Lina (played by Rose Williams) was my favorite, both for the role she plays and for the way she is always at the forefront of the film's story.
In terms of her connection with the other characters in the house that works like a criminal organization, sometimes joining them but eventually separating herself from them, Rose Williams gave a near-perfect acting performance. I can say that she added the most value to the movie.
As a viewer, it should not be my fault if I do not consider the character of Nurse Mackenzie (played by Anna Friel), who is very much in the plot of the movie, as one of the three best characters of the movie.
It was a bit strange to see a character who was featured prominently in the plot, who should have appeared more in the movie and been very influential in the story, passively positioned as the one who helps to solve the mystery.
I recommend the movie to anyone who likes #thriller and #mystery genres. It has an excellent storyline in terms of fluidity and the surprise at the end is worth seeing.
