Thanksgiving (2023) Rewiev

I finally watched Thanksgiving, a movie that I think moviegoers who love the Scream movie series will like. I watched the movie, which I had added to my watch list on recommendation for a while, after watching the match of Galatasaray football team, which I love very much, and I can say that I enjoyed it at least as much as I enjoyed the Scream movie series.

First of all, I liked the beginning story of Thanksgiving more than the other movies with similar stories. The opening scenes, which prove the current state of the shopping frenzy and how effective social media is in directing our lives, make the main story mysterious for a while, while managing to reflect and make you feel the excitement and tension at the highest level.

A year after the tragedy of a stampede during an unexpected shopping spree, the local community, still mourning the loss of loved ones, is shaken again by a series of serial murders. Those unwillingly responsible for the tragedy are targeted by a faceless man who is creating his own brand of justice.

After the beginning of the story, although it has much in common with similar productions in terms of processing and progression, it stands out from the others because of its high tension. The performances of the actors were quite successful. I think the director is the most important factor in this, as he elaborates the death scenes too much and connects all the losses with the Thanksgiving dinner; it ensures that each stage is connected to each other and ensures the integrity of the story of the movie.

What I didn't like about Thanksgiving was that the mystery was limited to the identity of the serial killer. The basis of the story is solid, but from the moment the existence of the serial killer was revealed, the indifference of the characters who caused all these events reduced the tension and excitement. It was as if they had been forewarned in the first year that someone would show up and hold them to account.

After the story matured and the final turn came, after the characters who were responsible for everything from the very beginning realized the seriousness of the situation, the movie took on the look it should have had. In those moments when the tension was at its peak, I was finally introduced to the feeling of fear.

I'd like to mention a small detail that I've started to see more and more often in these kinds of productions. They started to put the signs that sequels are coming too much in the last scenes of the movie. In a few movies, this detail could be quite nice, but when it becomes more frequent, it loses its humor and becomes boring to watch.

I recommend watching Thanksgiving. I can say that the chase scenes contribute to the fluidity of the movie. It makes the time go fast. But you need to pay attention; with whom you will watch the movie. The death scenes are too detailed. I personally liked it, but I am sure there will be people who don't like it.
