Today we're listening to side 2 of the Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky, recorded as a Columbia Masterworks album in 1943.
Even though this is part 2, or side 2, of the album of music, it was actually part of the second disk, and not on the first. This was designed to allow an automatic disc changer to automatically drop the second and succeeding discs into place in the correct order. When the last disc was played, they would then be flipped over and continued until the final disc played was the flip side of the first.
