At the end of the year, it might be wise to stop for a while to think about what we've done or what we've not. Where we've succeeded and where we've failed. What we've achieved or what we've missed. It is something very important that I'm used to doing each year to figure out where I stand in my life...
When we entered 2021, we all had very high hopes to get rid of that pandemic and get back to our "normal life". However, Corona has had a different opinion. This virus has been stubborn enough to live with us for yet another year and has even cropped up in different strains and mutations. Moreover, nobody seems to know how long this unwanted "guest" is going to stay.
On the other hand, this same virus has the credit of reminding us that health and safety are way more important than money and that having our family and friends close to us is a real blessing in this life.
Today, I'd like to write a bit different publication from the ones I usually post. It's nothing related to crypto, tech, or AI, but it's going to be about the upcoming Christmas, who I would like to spent it with, and how I think this Christmas may be different...
Honestly folks, I've been here for more than 4 years now, and I do feel like I have friends with whom I can share my personal life...
How do I feel about the next Christmas?
Well, first of all, I live in Syria, the country that has experienced the worst civil war in modern times, and living there has particular difficulties such as rising prices, the collapse of the national currency due to inflation, long hours of power cuts, troubles in sourcing fuels, and many many other problems which I really don't want to go through in this post. So, for next Christmas, I sincerely hope the situation will get a little better in my country...
Apart from that, it's the first Christmas for me as a certified electrical engineer as I graduated from Damascus University four months ago and now I'm studying for my master's degree, so, yea, it has been a bit special year for me :)

My plan for next Christmas...
This pandemic has forced us to stay home for about two years. It allowed me to have a really good time with my beloved family, but it deprived me to spend time out with my friends and colleagues. However, things seem to be getting better now, so for next Christmas, I'm excitedly planning to go out with some of my old friends.
In fact, I lost contact with most of my friends from 2019-2020. We're still communicating virtually via WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram but thanks to Covid and our busy lives, we missed reaching each other in real life, so the next meeting is going to be a bit emotional, I guess.
Maybe we can have a nice meal at some restaurant. Syrian cooking is epic by the way :)
