The Ancient Biblical Origin of Santa Claus… Isaiah 63

Such a Magical and Mystical time of the year.

And especially this date… December 25th.

25th Kislev (December)

So much symbolism that goes back thousands of years to the original story of 25th kislev …

The date that Moses completed the building of the 1st Tabernacle (Mishkan) the portable earthly dwelling place of YHVH at Mount Sinai ….

According to the Talmudic sage, Rabbi Chanina, the construction of the Mishkan (the portable temporary Tabernacle that was used before the permanent Temple was erected) was completed on the 25th of Kislev

According to the Hebrew Bible, the tabernacle (Hebrew: מִשְׁכַּן, romanized: mīškān, lit. 'residence, dwelling place'), also known as the Tent of the Congregation (Hebrew: אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, romanized: ’ōhel mō‘ēḏ, also Tent of Meeting, etc.), was the portable earthly dwelling place of Yahweh (the God of Israel) used by the Israelites from the Exodus until the conquest of Canaan. Moses was instructed at Mount Sinai to construct and transport the tabernacle with the Israelites on their journey through the wilderness and their subsequent conquest of the Promised Land. After 440 years, Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem superseded it as the dwelling-place of God.

And then tonight (25th kislev) we celebrate the return of Yahweh (God) to earth with the birth of our Saviour … Jesus (Yeshu) in the town of Bethlehem.

Saviour : מוֹשִׁיעַ
Salvation (Yeshua) : ישועה
Jesus (Yeshu) : יֵשׁוּעַ

But now then … who is this Santa Claus Character ?

Where does he come from ? This very large man who comes at night wearing Red to Judge if you have been naughty or nice ?

Bringing gifts to the good and coal to the bad.

This symbol is also a very ancient Tradition that describes God (YHVH) Himself coming to earth … dating back thousands of years to the story we read in Isaiah 63 …

Who is this who comes from Edom, from the city of Bozrah, with his clothing stained red? Who is this in royal robes, marching in his great strength? “It is I, the LORD (YHVH), announcing your salvation (Yeshu) ! It is I, the LORD (YHVH) who has the power to save !”

Why is Your clothing red, and your attire like [that of] one who trod in a wine press?

  • Isaiah 63

The kind acts of the Lord I will mention, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord (YHVH) bestowed upon us, and much good to the house of Israel, which He bestowed upon them according to His mercies and according to His many kind acts.

And He said, "They are but My people, children who will not deal falsely." And He became their Savior (Yeshu)…

This is actually YHVH … God Himself, wearing red… depicted as Jesus (Yeshu) in the Wine press, crushing grapes, dressed in red… in many early Christian paintings and mosaics.

Christ in the Mystic Winepress was a popular Christian motif during the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. It was based on eschatological interpretations of passages in Isaiah and the Book of Revelation, as well as on Catholic belief in the redemptive power of Christ's blood. The winepress motif was one of the few Catholic teachings that survived the Protestant Reformation. However, while Catholic theologians emphasized the winepress as representing Christ's Passion and suffering, Protestant theologians placed greater emphasis on the winepress as expressing Christ's triumph over evil. While the Christ in the Winepress image has largely disappeared from Christian art and theology, the concept of the winepress has continued to serve as a powerful literary metaphor.

It is the oldest depiction of Jesus (Yeshu bar Joseph) as Ancient of Days …

Revelations 13…. And among the lampstands was One like the Son of Man, (Bar Adam) אדם ... אדום .. dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. 14 The hair of His head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire. 15His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters.…
