In a few minutes (depending on their time zone), our Christian brothers & sisters will be celebrating Christmas’ eve with their families.
During my childhood, our mother used to buy fruits day before Christmas and especially before New Year’s Eve. We haven’t a fridge in the village so she can’t buy it earlier to avoid the fruits being rotten. She also prepares spaghetti and macaroni salad, my favorite dessert if prepared by my mother of course.
Our father would buy some fire crackers to lit up at 00:00hr on 25th December then we all eat together. Our mother always wakes us up 30mins before midnight, she always ensures all members of the family is gathered and share our simple food together. That was before, everything has changed over the years.
Now, it’s my 7th year straight celebrating Christmas alone here in Saudi Arabia. During this event, I only received photos from my family back in the Philippines. I always call my parents earlier because it is difficult to contact them on Christmas eve. Also, they are still living in the village where the telco signal is very poor. Maybe, the signal traffic is different now compared to 10 years back. Today, we can call using any social media app like messenger, average of the Filipinos uses messenger for communication.
Here are some of today’s photos sent from my wife.
From my family to yours, Merry Merry Christmas and A prosperous Bullish new year everyone!
