My sons speak English at home so even they are BBC (British Born Chinese), they don't speak Chinese well. We (Mummy and Daddy) speak Chinese at home. Sometimes we speak Chinese to them, but they always reply in English. We spoke English to them when they found it hard to understand.
Bilingual is not easy. Their Chinese is slowing improving. We sent them to Weekend Cambridge Chinese School for many years but they still don't speak much during the class so the progress is not as good as we expect.
