This is one topic that I find very sensitive and delicate to discuss with people. For parents who are having a challenge to conceive a child, in today's time there are many options available which can be looked at, like IVF and other surgical procedures. There are some females who cannot even conceive after these treatments and for them Surrogacy is one option.
With Surrogacy I do understand that the family bloodline continues and one somewhere has the satisfaction of having their own baby. But somewhere I feel that if one has to consider for Surrogacy then why not Adoption of a child in need.
A friend of mine is having problems conceiving so she wants to go in for Surrogacy, the husband does not want to as he feels they are a little old to start the process of raising a child from just born. I suggested they should go in for Adoption in that case, the husband kind of agrees here, but the wife does not as she feels that as per her religion it is not rightful to adopt and they would not be able to give their inheritance to the adopted child.
What kind of society do we live in, where such rules are set. It is really disturbing to know that the adopted child will not get full rights vs what an own child will get. In west this topic may not be an issue at all, but from where I come, these things still do fall under taboos.
In these times that we are living I find many children who do not have parents and many parents who do not have children, so why not fill up these gaps and fill up the emptiness for each other. If our hearts are filled with love and compassion we can adopt any child and give them equal amount of love, care and rights that we would give to a child of our own. The child will get a home and the parents will get a child, a lifelong commitment.
I see these days it is easier for people to adopt pets then children. Yes, it is true, many couples who cannot have children, end up having pets to fill up their emptiness. It would be good if they would think about adopting a child and giving a new life to them and a safe home and environment.
It may be easier said then done, there is a lot of emotional energy that goes in when you adopt a child, but then if the heart is filled with love those energies will be joyful and will take away all the pain and emptiness from within. It is a lot of commitment, not only from the parents but from the extended family as well to accept the adopted child as a part of the family and welcome.
Spiritually I believe that adopting a child is one of the highest form of service that one can make. It takes a great deal to accept a child not of your own flesh and blood but when one does that, it also proves how large a heart those parents hold and these people I believe are true. I also feel that these words like adoptive parents, guardian parents, foster parents should be removed and only Parents should be kept, because these parents hold much more respect than normal parents, so why give them other type of tags.
Today with so many world crises, like wars, pandemic, many children are losing their parents and families. In such a state giving a loving home to these kids will be the highest act of kindness that one can make.
