Let us learn about the working of sensors for measurement of dissolve oxygen.
Oxygen present in the water in the dissolved form is called Dissolved Oxygen (DO).
There are two types of sensors that are used for the measurement of Dissolved Oxygen.
1} Optical Sensors for measurement of dissolve oxygen :
When the dye is exposed to the light it moves to the excited state and return to the ground state by emitting the light with a known intensity.
When the dissolved oxygen cross the semi-permeable membrane and interacts with the dye, it reduces the intensity of the light emitted by the dye
The intensity of the emitted light is inversely proportional to the dissolved oxygen concentration.
The intensity of the emitted light is measured using the photo detector.
