An Incomplete Idea
I have an idea. There's this homeless guy in my neighbourhood that I see using a smartphone regularly. I've seen him talking to people on it, as well as watching videos. I'm assuming he buys pay-as-you-go credit of some kind since you need an address to get a subscription based service. Whatever the case, he's got data service. It's also likely that he connects to free wifi available on the high streets - that would be wise actually. He also clearly has places to charge his phone.
This is my idea; I could try onboarding him unto our blockchain. Why not? He could create content, maybe even video, on his phone and get rewards. The only problem is, how will he cash out in real life? I could also help him with that, but I'd prefer a system he could do by himself so he could be totally independent of me or others. We used to have a bitcoin ATM around here a while ago but that vanished about two years ago. I'm not sure why.
Any other way requires KYC, especially these days with the government going so hard after crypto, and he wouldn't be able to pass any of those requirements being homeless. So while it sounds like an amazing idea in principle, I can't figure out a way he can be independently cashing out if he were to get on here. For a homeless person such as him, the options are even more limited.
It'd be much easier in El Salvador or the Central African Republic, two countries that now have Bitcoin as legal tender. He'd be able to simply walk into a shop and buy food with his crypto - at least with BTC, which he could easily sell on a KYC-less platform like Ionomy.
Does anyone have any ideas for the UK?
Peace & Love,
Adé
p2p exchanges are your solution. Or his, I mean. For example, I use https://bisq.network/. He can exchange blurt in ionomy.com. Send that to the application installed, I see that they have the application in the App Store, but don't see it in android. But the one installed in pc is more secure I guess.
There is also p2p option on binance, but I guess they ask there for KYC. Do your research about that.
And I already wrote about this as well : P2P Websites or how to trade crypto to fiat !. That may help you as well.
I also was homeless for almost 10 years in Russia, I mean an immigrant, almost like homeless. lol So, I had to learn everything about that to survive.
By the way, there are also bots on telegram, you can learn about them as well.
In all those p2p options, you can find even people in real life, who exchange any crypto for cash ! Have fun to learn about p2p world. ☺
Thank you so much bro. I will look into these options. I'll read your post too later. That will be amazing if this works!!
I've never been homeless, but I can see it is a terrible situation to be in... Russian winter must have been very bad and dangerous for the health. I'm glad you were able to pull yourself up. That's amazing.
Check also valora. With their blockchain that's doing well by the way. It's called Celo, ranked 73 on coinmarketcap. My ledger live promoted that to me yesterday. I'm only learning about that. I like that this valora app support decentralization, nfts, and don't ask for any KYC. Their currency now costs about $2.25. Check that here : Celo on Coinmarketcap.
I didn't try it yet, but after watching this video, I like it :
It's possible to earn with that wallet as well by staking.
Anyway, I'm glad that there are so many options for us to try.
Why don’t we do a meet up in London where we go around and see if some homeless ppl will sign up to blurt, help them a bit, sit and chat with them etc. It could rly change their lives
Anytime I’ll come
I’ve seen homeless ppl comment on YouTube videos, they also have the library and we can start them accounts and post about it to get the money to help start new accounts. It’s so much better to be empowered to make your own money than donations too.
The problem is going from Blurt to £££. Unless, they depend on you - if you go round buying their Blurt from them with cash, which defeats the purpose :)
Does revolut need an address and crypto. Com card
They need full KYC. They also want to know that colour underwear I'm wearing daily 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I mean I still think they could just post and save imagine a homeless person in 2-3 years suddenly sitting on 50k for example at that point I’m sure they can find a way to get it out.
That would be a dream, and it's possible actually.. but unfortunately I don't think most homeless people have that long term thinking since they often need money on a daily basis.
This guy seems different though. He uses the bins and cleans up after himself so well. He looks like a really decent guy that just somehow ended up on the streets. One time when I offered to buy him lunch, he picked the money saving option (meal deal) and no extra stuff 😲
I mean they could rly just post and see it as savings I more thought like commit to it every day for a year then potentially have £10 k /20 k to take out. I’m sure they could pay someone to help at that point. You can’t build any savings on the street since it would get stolen.
