Teachers day celebration

Today my college students invited us to celebrate techers day. Though it was scheduled on 5th September we celebrated it today as it was raining heavily on that day in Hyderabad, the local authorities and education minister had to declare a holiday that day.

The cultural club students organised and hosted this event for us. It was really refreshing and fun. I really appreciate all the efforts made by students to give their tribute to us.

I work as an assistant professor in an architecture college since from 2019. By the time I could understand the job and create that connect with the students, lockdown started due to covid-19 and everything became online. I barely had any one-to-one connection with the students. Then after resuming back offline post pandemic the entire education system and students approch towards studies was shattered and disturbed. We being teachers had to boost the students moral first instead of focusing on studies to get students back on track, and during this struggle i became pregnant and had to plan for my maternity leave. It was a long break again which restricted me to create a bond with my students. And recently after my daughter turned one I joined back the college. I am now finally able to connect and relate to the students without any divide. This is why this teachers day was special for me.

Students invited me with full warmth which made me participate to the fullest. It was a short and sweet event of 2 hours, where the students performed for us and hosted some fun activities. Most of the activites were associated to dance and other than that they made us draw, gues, say Tung twisters and lastly made us walk the ram.

They ended the event with the small gift in the form jade plants which I felt was very thoughtful. The celebration was full of joy wich made us forget that we are the teachers and they made us have fun like teenagers.

Over-all it was a memorable event.
