Mydailypost #347 - Do all breeds of cats act the same or do they have different characteristics.

in caturday •  last year

All breeds of cats have different characteristics and behaviors. While all domestic cats share common traits as members of the same species (Felis catus), their personalities, energy levels, grooming habits, and social behaviors can vary widely depending on their breed.

Different cat breeds have been selectively bred for specific traits over generations, resulting in unique characteristics. For example:

*Persian Cats: Known for their luxurious long fur, calm demeanor, and affectionate nature. They are often quiet and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle.
*Siamese Cats: Vocal and social, Siamese cats are intelligent and demand attention. They are often quiet and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle.

*Maine Coon Cats: One of the largest domesticated cat breeds, Maine Coons are friendly, gentle, and sociable. They are often referred to as "gentle giants."
*Bengal Cats: Energetic and playful, Bengal cats have a wild appearance due to their unique coat markings. They are known for their curiosity and love for climbing.
*Sphynx Cats: Hairless cats with wrinkled skin, Sphynx cats are affectionate and enjoy warmth. They are social and tend to be more extroverted.

*Scottish Fold Cats: Recognized by their unique folded ears, Scottish Folds are usually calm, sweet, and adaptable cats.
*Ragdoll Cats: Laid-back and docile, Ragdolls are known for their tendency to go limp when held, hence their name. They are affectionate and enjoy human companionship.

These are just a few examples, and there are many more cat breeds, each with its own distinct traits and behaviors. However, it's essential to remember that individual cats, regardless of their breed, will still have their unique personalities influenced by factors such as early socialization, environment, and individual experiences.
If you're considering adopting a cat, it's a good idea to research different breeds to find one that matches your lifestyle and personality preferences. However, keep in mind that mixed-breed cats can also make wonderful companions, and their unique backgrounds can add an extra layer of charm and surprise to their personalities.

Persians/Ragdolls would go extinct in the wild - sofa cats at best.
Interestingly, our shorthair tried to train one of them to become a proper cat, but only half worked. They seem to lack any fighting skills or awareness of dangers.

have you ever seen a Maine Coon? I'd love one just to scare the shit outta other people! You can buy one in Thailand; there are breeders.
