My cat Latte started his life eating packaged cat food. Over time he began eating more than 1 packet for each meal. It turns out that more than 50% of the cat food we fed Latte was gelatin. No wonder he's never full. My father put a stop to this by giving him real food. We fed him offal, fish and he was happy as Larry...whoever "Larry" is.
Another reason that we stopped buying him the jelly food is that it made him sick, twice. He would vomit up foam after eating it. The first time it happened, my father and I thought that maybe we just got a bad batch so we gave the cat food another chance. It happened again so we waved bye-bye to that crap, along with a middle finger too. This was the type of cat food that made Latte sick. They had different varieties but they all ended with the same results.
Now we feed him real stuff which fills him up after one portion. Unlike dogs, cats are strict carnivores so giving them veggies doesn't give them any nutrients but as I said in one of my blogs, Latte can't help himself when he sees fruit...weirdo. To other pet owners, has this ever happened to your pets, or is it just my cat?
We tried a few brands - they all sucked - and the ingredients were a toxic broth.
He doesn't seem to mind the dried food, so has that as fillers when we're too lazy to cook! lol.
But, just like food for humans, real natural food is even cheaper than the synthetic feline junk food!
I cook the food for my cats and they are the happiest , i would never feed them shit food from stores , i used to buy expensive cat food bags for some abandonned cats in a village , 5 stars cat food but i left .
Take care of your cat is a must .
I have a dog now, and I do feed her some dry dog food that is one of the better brands.

Her primary meal I give her in the morning however is shaved turkey. It's more common than not that she will also get some of dinner from us as well. Pieces of chicken, carrots, celery and what not. Sometimes she also gets some hamburger but I don't eat a lot of it myself. She also gets eggs regularly. She also does love her occasional orange slices. I'm not to upset she eats her dry dog food the least.
I'm not surprised to read you saying the cat food is crap. Much of the human food they sell us is little more than flavored poison, so makes sense they do it to our animal friends too.
Yeah, dogs in many ways easier to feed. Watching a cat wrestling with a bone is hilarious! Also, some very common ingredients are kinda toxic, eg garlic.
Here, people eat the whole animal, so the idea of getting some cheap offal doesn't exist - coz it gets eaten too! But can get cheap hearts, liver, kidneys - cook and grind and freeze for a week. Those are kinda treats, coz healthy but kinda heavy too. Cheap frozen fish has become a staple - and cheaper than the canned stuff. Cheaper coz is actually filling, rather than filled with fillers! ;-)
This is so true I’m vegan and so do buy packaged but I get this rly good quality one that’s actually 100 percent real meat etc or cans of tuna or an egg. I ran out the other day and had to get some from the local shop and it was that shit stuff. My cat actually enjoys it it must be like junk food but it’s the only time she’s begged consistently for food and meowed constantly at me. She’s back to tuna today and she’s been quiet and well behaved.
