I've settled on what I want to buy for my next vehicle. I was on the fence on getting a truck (like a Ford Maverick). Yet, I've decided that it's not going to be convenient for me as of yet (due to commuting costs).
I'm looking right now at a 2020-2021 Nissan Versa that is under $13,000 and has under 75k miles. My main focus was being cheap and getting a car (relatively) quickly. I've saved up a few thousand dollars, and it's likely I will ask family for some assistance for a much lower down payment.
The concern here is looking for a vehicle that will likely have low insurance payments, relatively good fuel consumption, and low repair costs. Sure, the 2023+ Ford Maverick would be great for construction and it checks the marks for fuel consumption (for the hybrid) but I'd probably wait until the next-gen gets released before I buy it.
That's my plan:
- Buy a used $13,000 Nissan Versa: get part of it financed with a good down payment (to build my credit).
- After I get my small car, then I can save for a NEW Ford Maverick when the next-gen hits.
I still need time to plan it out but I should be buying this car next year. The goal is to get it before February 2025. Wish me luck!
