Mustang Mach-E and Tesla

Hi Friends,

You may have seen the news today that Tesla is losing market share to Ford, specifically related to the new Mustang Mach-E. Tesla still had 69% of the electric vehicle market in February 2021, but that is down from 81% at the same time last year.

I had a chance to preview and see a presentation on the Mustang Mach-E at the 2020 LA Auto Show. Here is a gif of the car coming out for the presentation:

The car has a different look and feel than a traditional Ford Mustang and reminds me of a hatchback/crossover as opposed to a sports car. The car is intriguing though, and the look and technology throughout certainly has the vibe of a cutting edge vehicle in a world that is getting away from oil and gas. I am liking the look of the Cadillac Lyriq as well, so keep an eye out for that when it hits the market.

I am biased toward Ford as I have friends who work for the company and I used to live outside Detroit, the auto capital of the world, but I think they have a winner here with the Mustang Mach-E. I also feel the electric car market is expanding so it is not necessarily a direct take away from Tesla each time, but Tesla's dominance in the market was always going to be on the decline as they were the pioneers and road pavers in the electric car industry.

Thanks for coming by,
Brian
