The Egregious Predicament of Labor at Canada Post

The year was 2015, a young and fresh Justin Trudeau had yet to be baptized in the blood of his own political decisions. Seemingly Progressive decisions were made to get rid of community mailboxes and continue in-person door to door delivery.

Everyone responded to this well originally liking the idea of keeping the postal workers employed. That was complemented as the consumer would be relatively unaffected for the cost of mail.

There's just one issue, every year the Christmas season backlog gets increasingly delayed. It really makes you wonder what kind of hole Canada Post Administration is living in, when they continuously provide worse service year after year at the busiest time of year.

Christmas is Ancient

This holiday, is not going anywhere. If someone who is in Administration, thought for any reason shipping and logistics would slow down with the population of earth growing, they are severely out of touch of reality.

I suspect there is some form of a patriarchy at the top of Canada Post, as it was once a privately owned company. It was bailed out due to some kind of fallout from the 2008 financial recession. This is the kind of lack luster ethics you get when someone who is in career development and planning at Canada Post is fucking the dog. I felt the colorful language would accent how out of touch with reality this individual or board must be.

Temporary Workers

In almost every other field of work there's access to temporary workers, in some cases International Labour exchanges that can provide large volumes of employees. Of course the CCPvirus has complicated things but there's Independent Drivers at Canada Post who drive the trucks alone and there was already minimal contact so the social distancing is not really relevant to any delays.

Temporary laborers could be arranged if not seasonal employees. They have had 2000 years of christmas season to get this.

Packages in Ontario are Delayed due to Weather in British Columbia

When I originally started making this blog I was going to link to some cute Reddit comments, but after going through the Canada Post Reddit I wouldn't be a decent human referring anyone over to that flaming hell hole right now. It appears across the country no one knows what is happening to their parcels. There's Agents from third-party companies who have parked there mail in their own private facilities because they can depend on Canada Post to secure the mail.

"This is the beauty of CP. By law, they are the only ones allowed to carry letter mail.

Here's what will happen over time.

Letter mail will continue to decline, as will their parcel delivery business.

Stamps will continue to increase, because there is a very large "machine" behind CP.

Eventually there is NO possible way stamps can support the system, time to turn to the government (taxpayers)." - anonymous redditor

I don't have an official comment but all of what I've seen from quotes on people's tracking is that there's delays due to weather. I live in Alberta and I have a package coming from Ontario. The highways are flat and straight between Ontario and Alberta, The airways are clear. All flights are on time.

There is no logical reason why Mississauga, Ontario to Alberta should be delays or not updating my package tracking normally.

The airport DID NOT FLOOD AT VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT on December 2, 2021... That is the craziest thing I read, i left reddit soon after.

What the Hell is Going on?

The question Canadians have every year at this time of year while humbly not asking it out loud. I don't think anyone at Canada Post truly has a good grasp about what is going on during the holiday season.

Final Thought

The argument used to cancel the development of the community mailboxes in 2015,

"Old people need mail delivery for their medication" - Canada Post Workers Union

I have not been updated on the status of my mail since november 28th... If this were medication, i may be dead...

The delays are bad here in the U.S. as well. I see it for what it is.

It's part of the overall scheme to destroy small businesses, in this case those who rely on post office delivery for online sales. This scheme of course doesn't affect a monopoly such as Amazon who handles their own delivery. Interesting how this wasn't ever such a crises until Amazon had their self delivery system in place here in the states anyway.

Exactly first line of this war was to lockdown, second is to delay deliveries so they have problems with their services and custommers.

Amazon gets their money before the product ships, a lot of small businesses are waiting for the product to be in to have inventory to sell.

Yeah, Ebay has made it even more difficult for small sellers in the last couple of years. Forcing sellers from Paypal to their in house payment system which is whacked as Paypal used to be them and they split to avoid being a monopoly. Anyway, under Paypal sellers could use the funds the buyer paid to pay for shipping. Now sellers have to eat the cost of shipping and if all goes well it still might take weeks for the seller to get that too. So not only buying the item up front, but the shipping as well. They are working diligently to stop regular people from being able to escape the slavery roles they wish for all of us.
