Everybody will have studied or at least heard of the Romans. Their empire spanned for centuries, eventually facing their demise to the barbarian tribes. Still the 1000 years that they existed is something that echoes through our historic accounts to this very day.
Rome was the heart of the Roman empire and it is full of historic sights to see. When one thinks of Rome, the name Julius Caesar may come to mind. As a fierce general who became the ruler of the empire briefly, the dictator would eventually see his end when political rivals would execute his assassination on the ides of March.
Did you know that Caesar was captured by pirates? Cilician pirates captured the would be general as he travelled to Rhodes. His arrogance persisted even during his time on the boat until his ransom was delivered. He did get his own back eventually having them crucified though, yep.
