BYT The Last Post

in byt •  last year

We have reached the end of May, thus marking 6 whole months since announcing the closure of the BYT program and its token.

Mercifully, there are not too many sleeping investors left, with under 900 BYT still left in their hands, so about 270 HIVE-worth at the closing price.

I said I was going to close down the market. This is possible, but all it does is remove the market from the platform listings. This means it can still be accessed by those few who know how to interact at the command line level, but also means that anybody who wakes up will not otherwise be able to transfer their tokens over to be converted or sold.

I still think it is right that we now enter some penalty phase. I am not hanging around for years nursing a dead market. Try swapping tokens on an exchange that has closed a token market!

So, for those awake enough to read this, place a sell order for your remaining BYT at the original 0.295 SWAP.HIVE price. Then leave a comment that you have done so. Then, I shall buy those back when I see them. An open order remains open for 30 days, so should be enough time - don't forget, you've had months to do this!

The reason for doing it this way is that there are still a small number of token holders who may have more tokens than will appear on the market. This would mean converting our funds into SWAP.HIVE before the buyback and just letting them sit there, waiting. We also still have a few tokens being unstaked - not enough to lose any value, but enough to mention this as a possibility. Indeed, the fund is healthier than when I last wrote, as we have been earning over these last few weeks.

For those who are not so observant, the buyback price on the market will now decrease, approximately weekly, by one cent, starting at 0.290 SWAP.HIVE. This will allow those who have woken up but not bothered to be informed to at least get back some value. Don't forget, this is costing me time to keep checking this - it isn't free.

There will always be some tokens left unsold - that's fine, but it's also not my problem. The issue is keeping a stack of funds sitting there doing nothing.

OK, I hope that is all clear. I have also placed a direct link to this post in the market info popup. Does anybody read those? Not sure, but there it is, proof that investors have been informed.
