Insights
With coin prices continuing their volatility, this week has gone slightly in our favour. All yields have risen, as has the distribution, up to 0.85 SWAP.HIVE per 100 BYT.
Note that the one metric to have dropped is the ABV in USD, thus showing that although one BYT is worth more in HIVE terms, the fall in the price of HIVE means it is worth a bit less in USD.
When I construct token funds such as BYT, my one objective is to secure earnings within the economy in which that token is embedded. In this case, the key values are BLURT and HIVE. Trying to figure out what will happen externally with either BTC or USD is an impossible task.
Having said that, one thing I mentioned in the launch post was that I'd be keeping about 20% of assets within the HIVE system. This helps generate tokens for the weekly payout and also acts as a buffer to extreme swings in the BLURT/HIVE relative price. Well, as BYT was a new token, I had been largely adding to our Blurt Power, but a couple of weeks ago started to rebalance this to approach that 20/80 split. This is now starting to bear fruit as the proportion of profits coming from HIVE-based assets has doubled compared to last week. The BYT fund currently has about 9% held in HIVE assets, yet those generated about 12% of this week's profits. This is only one week, and the whole thing is one large balancing act, but the concept is working.
We are now very close to finally selling out the 1-HIVE tokens. Maybe there are too many tokens on sale, but honestly, 100,000 is not so many! I also think it important that members know where the price-points are, so they can judge when to trade. In the extreme case that the ABV should fall to some very low value, I shall leave open the option to lower some prices. But, on the whole, I think this is the job of the market! Yields are always relative to something, and popularity inevitably lowers some yields - so enjoy the high yields now!
