Why Business Leaders Need a Broad Perspective

in bussiness •  2 years ago

A broad perspective helps business leaders understand what their customers need. In business, understanding what your customers want and why they need it is critical to success. It increases tolerance and understanding and strengthens business relationships. It also helps you develop critical awareness of global challenges and changes. It helps you find the middle ground. It is the best way to make better decisions.

Exchanging perspectives involves subjectivity and objectivity
Objectivity is the property of a thing or an idea that is objective. A subjective point of view, by contrast, is a personal point of view that has a moral status that is difficult to justify or to describe objectively. In this way, it is impossible for two people to both be right about the same thing, even when the content is the same.

Objectivity is a concept related to reality, truth, and reliability. Subjectivity, on the other hand, relates to the personal and social background of a person. While both terms can have an important place in our everyday lives, it is sometimes difficult to keep these terms separate.

It increases tolerance and understanding
A study by Persell et al. (2002) found that people with a broad perspective had higher levels of tolerance than those with a narrow one. Tolerance refers to the ability to endure something while showing esteem for it. The study also found that tolerance increases with age, and that young people experience more diversity than older ones.

The concept of tolerance is often invoked, especially in a time when diversity is increasing. However, these calls for tolerance are meaningless unless we have a clear understanding of the concept. Tolerance is a positive trait that can decrease social problems, including discrimination and violence.

It strengthens business relations and relationships
Broad perspective is a key tool for building strong business relations. It is crucial to understand your customers' needs and think from their point of view. A broad perspective can help you reach a middle ground in your business relationships. It will help you avoid stereotypes and build better relationships with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

It increases critical awareness of global changes and challenges
The climate crisis threatens to unravel fifty years of progress in development, global health, and poverty reduction. It jeopardizes the realization of universal health coverage by compounding the burden of disease and increasing barriers to accessing health services. Today, 930 million people spend at least 10% of their household budget on health and care, and 100 million of them fall into poverty due to health shocks. The trend only worsens.
