The importance of a business logo cannot be overemphasized. Logo design in business is such a powerful topic that a lot of business owners take for granted or neglect. Logo design is such a big part of any business, that is why it should be taken very seriously as it capabilities and what it can do for a business is enormous. If you look at the logos of a lot of the top and highly successful brands, you will notice that there is something that is common… “simplicity and creativity”… these two words are very common in a lot of the business logos of a lot of the top and highly successful brands.

One of the main goals of an effective business logo is memorability. When a business logo is memorable, it has achieved one of its main goals and objectives – which means that the business target customers would always remember the business each time they come across the logo anywhere at any time. Look at apple, Microsoft, amazon, adidas, Nike, FedEx, Nokia, Samsung, LG, and a host of other top and highly successful brands… when you come across their logos, you immediately remember the business. That is what a memorable logo does. The more people remember a business, the more sales the business is most likely to make… that is just how things work in the marketplace.

Simplicity is key for memorability because it is easier for a simple logo to stick to the minds of the target customers than a complex looking logo. The simpler something looks, the easier it is to remember. Like I said above, simplicity is one of the standout features of the top successful brands – that is why people can remember their logo at any time. Simplicity is key for a memorable logo, however, combining simplicity and creativity makes for an even more memorable logo. If you carefully look at some of the logos of the top brands and highly successful brands, you will notice that there are some hidden meanings in them. The Apple logo has a “bite” which sounds like “byte”… Apple ==> Computers ==> Binary ==> Byte… you get it?... That is creativity. The FedEx logo has a hidden forward arrow which signifies movement, forward direction… the Amazon logo has an arrow that moves from “A to Z” which signifies Amazon selling A to Z products, also the Arrow signifies a smile in the faces of its customers. Nike swoosh signifies speed, movement - which aligns with the sports nature of Nike… With the simplicity and creativity in these logos, it is not a coincidence why these brands are highly successful...
