I Am A Girl
Loud as a gong,
Young but strong.
You can't see this;
No, not with your shades of criticism on.

I am a woman;
Not given a chance to speak.
Well, cause I've got a skirt on.
I am a woman;
Forbidden to rule,
For fear that I might outshine "My Head".

I am a Black Woman;
Hairs scraped off my head, a consolation prize for my loss.
I am a black woman ;
Loving hard, falling fast,
Heart broken and battered
With a smile on my cracked lips.

Yet,
I am a Queen ;
Branding my name,
Fixing my crown, adorning myself with humor,
And ruling my world
