A Heroines Journey

A few days ago we encouraged women to post about their stories, it was incredible to see how the blurtwomen post view post here inspired other power women to write about their journeys.

All our stories aren’t the same which is beautiful but what is impactful is how we overcame our obstacles and earned that crown.

Joseph Campbell coined the term "A heroes' Journey", in his book he unpacks the 12 steps that any individual goes through in their path of life in efforts to acquire victory. Alluding to the name a heroes journey, this tale was construed to be quiet masculine in nature and did not fully depict the journey of women.

Contrary to this, Maureen Murdock, a Jungian psychotherapist published "A Heroine's Journey". You might be wondering what the difference is? In short, A heroines journey is more about delving deep into the soul, a journey to understanding, healing and reclaiming, whilst the Heroe's Journey in mild contrast is in relation to the end result and how the individual attains victory.

Much like the characteristics between male and female, these books encapsulates our journeys and what we as women ascribe to as victory.

The Heroine's journey is one that we have all embarked on at some point in our lives. A call to adventure, when we had to leave our homes and families to find work in another city. Embracing a new way of life, a new culture and dealing with those new trials, be it a new job, a new family or a new relationship. Overcoming those trials and attaining success.

At some point in our journeys, there was one thing that kept us going, a quote, an empowering story, a heirloom or emblem that you drew on just to get through the day. We would like to know what that might have been. Share this with us by tagging #Blurtwomen to get upvoted accordingly.
