Today I am here to share with you a North Indian delicacy Matar Paneer, this is a distilled goods that remained formed in Punjab within the learning of traveling pastoralists. In Punjab, paneer is created by cutting warm milk among yogurt or buttermilk
Fresh paneer is normally pursued after to the Persian and Afghan commanders who started it in the 16th century, originally in North India, where it was executed with both goat or sheep rennet. The term “paneer” originates from the term “peynir,” which simply implies “cheese” in the Turkish and Persian words.
Ingredients:-
1.Cottage cheese-250g(cut into cubes).
2.Green peas- 1cup.
3.Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp.
4.Turmeric powder-1/4tsp.
5.Red chili powder-1/4tsp.
6.Garam Masala powder-1/2 tsp.
7.Fresh Cream- 4tbsp.
8.Sugar- 1/2 tsp.
9.Dried fenugreek leaves-1tsp.
10.Ghee( clarified butter)- 2-1/2 tbsp.
11.Coriander leaves- A handful of.
12.Salt-To taste.
For Spice Paste:-
1.Tomatoes- 3medium(chopped).
2.Onion- 1 medium ( chopped).
3.Garlic- 3cloves (chopped).
4.Ginger- 1/2 inch(chopped).
5.Green chilies- 2(chopped).
6.Black pepper corns- 5(whole).
7.Cinnamon stick- 1/2 inch(whole).
8.Green cardamom- 2pods(whole).
9.Coriander seeds- 1tsp.
10.Cashew nuts- 12-15(whole).
11.Cloves-2 (whole).
12.Coriander leaves- 2tbsp(chopped).
Preparation Method:-
Step 1- Take a bowl add hot water and add cottage cheese cubes,soak for 10-15 minutes.
Step 2- First in a blender take all spices mentioned above (Onion, Garlic,ginger, green chilies, Black pepper corns, cashew nuts,cloves, coriander seeds, cinnamon stick,tomatoes, green cardamoms, coriander leaves) and make a smooth paste. No need to add water.
Step 3- Heat ghee in a wok. Add cumin seeds saute till splutter. Now add (step-1) spice paste. Stir well occasionally, cover with lid to avoid splitting.
Step 4- Add green peas and saute well for 10 minutes on low flame till the ghee seperate from the paste.
Step 5- Now add Turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder,dried fenugreek leaves,salt and stir well to mix all spices.
Step 6- Next add Fresh cream(3tbsp). Stir and sure for a minute. Now add cottage cheese cubes, cook until gravy thickened. Turn off flame.
Step 7- Transfer the Matar Paneer in a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves and remaining fresh cream.
Step 8- Now it's ready to serve with Paratha,naan or cumin rice.
