Blurt Ulog no. 16: "New Curation Reward Record 138% APY"

in blurtulogs •  4 years ago

Last week, I made a post showing how much Blurtpower I gained from my curation work. Take note that I curate posts or comments manually and always consider upvoting after the 5-minute mark.

As a result, my curation work gained me a total of 138% annualized return which is a huge improvement from the previous week. Last week, I gained about 103% APY.

Have I done better at curating post?

Maybe, I have made good decisions on choosing which post to upvote.

Upon reading this post, I learned that curation makes more profit for higher value upvotes. This made me recall how did I distribute my upvotes on the previous 2 weeks.

I checked my previous upvotes and gather that majority of my upvotes were distributed thinly. Many of my upvotes were around 10% to 50% range. That's likely the reason why I have lesser curation return than this week.

And the reason why I have earned a better curation return this time around is due to the fact that I mostly distribute a full 100% upvotes to posts.

As stated in this post, the current reward curve is gravitating towards bigger upvotes by a high BP account. Basically, orca & whale accounts have higher earning potential than minnow accounts. To put it simply, if an orca level account cast a vote equivalent to 3000BP account or lower, then the vote value with appear zero on the upvoted post. The value of the vote doesn't necessarily align with the percentage of the vote unless it's a full 100% upvote. But then again, this doesn't apply to a minnow level account.

This rule was implemented in Steem/Hive to encourage powering-up more tokens and to incentivize higher vote values. Also, it is meant to prevent bug accounts from spreading their votes very thinly to dust levels.

In the case of Blurt, the spreading of dust level upvotes has been taken care of by the transaction fees. It's a clever approach to prevent dust level upvotes since it's not going to profitable to do such things here in Blurt.

Anyway, the Blurt Team has approved the proposal to eradicate Vote Dust Threshold or at least bring it to "zero" which are basically the same.

The next item on the discussion is "reward curve". It's something that has a huge impact to every Blurt account and to the probable future of this platform.

Much appreciated!
It helped me clarify a fev perplexities
Itz better to upvote 100
What'd you suggest to be the Blurt Power to have curation rewards in return???

Blurtpower higher than 5,000 is a good starting point.

Personally, if you can powerup 10,000 BP then why not. The token offered cheap at Ionomy exchange at a selling price of 116 Sats.

And if you decide to do so, make sure that you're doing it at your own will. I invested in Blurt since I believe that this platform has a bright future and what I'm sharing in my post is my personal journey here in Blurt :)

Thank you
I'll take it up
Yeah Blurt has a future
Blurt on!
