Though I detest the kind of civilization that people have created for themselves, I am also in awe of how far we have come in our quest. It is understandable why we are the planet's dominating animal.
Our superior status among other occupants has been attained over thousands of years due to our innovative problem-solving skills combined with intelligence. While it's true that some of the things we've created or learned over the ages have happened by accident, our constant need to make the seemingly impossible feasible has driven us most of the time. Possibly the most remarkable aspect of our race is this. Like we always have, we are currently working on some of the biggest issues we have ever faced. It will be evident to you as day that a large portion of the advancements we have made since our days as cave dwellers have been directly related to necessity.
Years ago, humans began constructing shelters to defend themselves against attacks by untamed animals. These eventually developed into tiny communities, marking the beginning of civilization. In addition to building shelters, humans also created and improved weaponry for hunting and self-defense. Our first motivation for farming was to lessen our reliance on berries and wild animals. That meant a lot of tool and other inventive inventions.
As more and more settlements appeared on Earth, humanity came to understand that we might trade with one another to obtain the goods we lacked. This required them to establish their own systems of trade, commodities storage techniques, and transportation, among other things.
Writing was developed throughout time, revolutionizing every aspect of life. Wheels are yet another significant development in human history. Notions such as paper, printing press, compass, musical instruments, smelting, seafaring, and a myriad of other inventions were born out of necessity.
Because we needed to stay in touch with one other, we developed more advanced forms of communication in more recent periods, such as radio, telegraph, cell services, postal, the internet, cellphones, and computers. We also created a variety of modes of transportation, such as automobiles, trains, ships, and airplanes, among many others.
We also created the scientific method, the educational system, money, and medicine, all of which helped our race flourish for many generations to come. What's even more amazing is that humans created means of space travel, such as satellites and rockets.
These represent but a small portion of the countless inventions mankind have made since our prehistoric cave-dwelling days. The more I learn about our rich history and how far we have come, the more I am astounded and impressed by what we have accomplished.
