The concluding farewell

Unlike other days, today felt different. Collins woke up by himself for the first time in a long time. It was getting close to lunchtime when he looked at his watch. Closing the shutters to sleep as late as possible, he consumed a sleeping tablet last night. His eighteen months of sleep deprivation had to be made up in full.

Although the empty space beside him hurt his heart, he understood that this was the preferable option. He realized he had no choice but to move on with his life after they had said their goodbyes. Her laugh and their conversations were missed, but the past two years had been unbearable.

Although they hardly knew one another for six months before to getting married, he will never forget the day they first met. Upon first meeting her at the library, he knew he would marry her because she was the most intelligent, kind, and loving person he had ever met.
Nothing had transpired between him and Angela, therefore he would never comprehend why people were unhappy with marriage.

They made the decision early on that they would not become parents, and when they did, they received the worst news imaginable.

He shaved her head when her hair started falling out from the chemotherapy, and they did all the doctors advised them to. When they glanced in the mirror after she had done the same for him, they both giggled.
She became really ill as a result of the chemotherapy's failure. He agreed with her decision to discontinue after the second round of therapy.

After moving to the beach, Angela used to spend her days lounging on the porch and taking in the views of the waves. They spent a great deal of time talking, and she made him swear that he would carry on without her. Though it was a difficult vow to make, he assured her that he would not postpone living once she passed away.

He'd been spending every waking moment for the past two weeks with her, telling her the same stories again and over. Despite her extreme discomfort, she refused to take any more medicine. Though he made a vow not to defy her wishes, it was difficult for him. He observed her transform into a corpse, and he was powerless to save her.

He never made her take anything she didn't want to, and he always left the painkiller next to her for when she needed it. He discovered the bottle was empty two nights prior, and she told him how much she loved him before nodding out.

He knew she had chosen the easy route and that she would never wake up again, but he didn't hold it against her or harbor any resentment. He called the doctor gently, and they arrived to take her away after the doctor departed. His heart ached at the idea of never seeing her again as he planted a kiss on her forehead.

Collins stood up and quickly showered. The doorbell rang just as he was finishing up, and when he opened it, a young woman stood there who completely stopped him in his tracks. She brought him back to Angela so vividly.

"Hey, next door...I've been meaning to visit since I moved in last week, but I was still packing."

Grinning broadly, Collins accepted the arrangement of white flowers from her. He beckoned her inside to have a coffee. He placed the flowers in the vase Angela had used, grinning.

Greetings😊
