Regardless of the type of addiction you suffer from—drugs, alcohol, tobacco, painkillers, sex, porn, lying, shopping, gambling, hoarding, power (authority), or the internet—experts always advise that accepting your problem is the first step toward recovery. Recognizing your addiction is a critical first step.
I am therefore coming clean about my severe caffeine addiction today. Even while it might not be as severe as the ones I listed above, it is still an addiction. I used to need at least three cups of coffee a day to get through the day.
I now only have one cup in the mornings every other day, and on the other days I just drink decaf.
If you are reading this and your addiction is destroying your relationships with the people who matter most to you, it may be time to make that huge first move.
