Making Yam Porridge

One of the simplest and most well-liked foods in Nigeria is yam porridge.
Porridge yams have been prepared by a number of people using a variety of recipes; some are straightforward while others are not. This recipe has the benefit of being simple enough for anyone to follow and produce the exact results you see below.

This is the standard yam porridge that you prepare at home with fresh tomatoes, pepper, salt, and other seasonings.

Pottage made with fresh tomatoes!
The typical Nigerian does not use fresh tomatoes, but tomato paste is necessary if you want to make food that looks incredibly delicious and welcoming, like you would find in 5-star restaurants and cafes.

Yam Recipes: About
Nigeria's numerous tribes and ethnic groups all have their own unique yam dishes. I've tried a couple of them throughout the past several years and so far I'm really like it.

I prepared the well-known Hausa dish yamarita. You'll adore it, I'm sure of it. Yams with a fried egg coating make up yamirita. But today, we'll concentrate on yam porridge teaching. One of Nigeria's main basic foods is yam.

Porridge yam ingredients
▪︎ White yam, 2000g, 2Kg, peeled
▪︎ Ground crayfish in a half-cup.
▪︎ single seasoning cube.
▪︎ palm oil, 150 ml.
▪︎ 300 cc Fresh Tomatoes, ground
▪︎ freshly ground peppers, little
▪︎ 1 cup of onion slices

Once all the ingredients are ready, I can easily create this yam porridge in just 20 minutes.
The yam's bark should be peeled off before it is sliced, washed, and placed aside. The tomatoes, fresh pepper, and a cup of crayfish should also be chopped or ground. I cook with a lot of onions because of their health benefits.

How to Prepare Yam Porridge
150ml of palm oil should be added to a cooking pot and heated for two minutes to slightly bleach the oil. Include half of the onion slices. Add the ground peppers and tomatoes.

Onion frying
▪︎ Add water, cook the onions and ground tomatoes for five to ten minutes, then add the cut yams. Water should be added until the yam chunks are nearly submerged (but not entirely). After bringing to a boil, add the crayfish, salt, and seasoning cube, and continue cooking for an additional ten minutes.

▪︎ Add the remaining onions, cut into slices.
porridge made with yams

▪︎ Cook for an additional five minutes with the cover on.

▪︎ To determine whether a yam is soft enough to eat, puncture it with a frying fork. Despite the fact that I left it out when I made the excellent recipe above, you can add vegetables; they go particularly well with yam porridge.

My favorite yam porridge is ready after another three to five minutes of cooking.

Combine everything and continue to stir until the mixture thickens.
