Greetings to this great community, welcome to my blog. I wanna say a big thanks to (@ctime) for encouraging me to write more, the upvotes I'm getting is really encouraging. Let's get back to business. I'll be talking about Humility and Contentment in today's teaching.
Let me take some reading from the book of(Genesis 13:8-9) says," And Abram Said unto Lot, let there be no strife, I pray for thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand then I'll go left".
If you grew up in a full house 🏠 with siblings and other family members, you probably understand many painful lessons about sharing. What about times when something wouldn't go round, so they would cut them up into smaller pieces 🥧 and ask people to pick from the oldest down to youngest. Ever noticed how your eye fix on the largest piece, hoping that no one else notices and pick it before it gets you? Lol, it is human nature.
In today's post, I'm talking about Abram and his nephew, Lot, experienced a dilemma upon in their new Homeland. God had blessed them, and land they were on could not support the enormous flocks they had accumulated. This problem had caused a land dispute between their group of herdsmen and had the potential to affect their relationship. Abram, being a family man, decided to handle the matter before the issue escalate. Do you know what he did? He asked Lot to make first choice of the land. Though he could have used his seniority to make the first choice, but he humbly let Lot go first.
Abram's choice of peace despite the impact on his wealth, revealed two characteristics that are important to note........
-first, we see his humility
-And secondly, we see his confidence in God's faithfulness. Beloved, when you completely trust your ways in to God's hands, no situation will faze you because you know that what God has for you, no man can take it from you. Abram did not need to have the choicest land; he knew that God was his source and that he would not suffer. Lot's also revealed his character by his choice. He prioritized worldly, temporal blessings and chose the best Share of the land, not thinking of Abram's need or the kindness Abram had shown him. Lot never knew that his choice would eventually destroy his family. Let us"live by faith".
In your private time go through 2 Corinthians 5:7. Thanks for reading
