A Day and a Half - Adding Fiction to Reality and Othering

How annoying is the sound of a man's breathing while walking on the road and climbing stairs? After watching the 2023 #Netflix movie A Day and a Half, I got the question and then the answer. Lol

I would love to say I'm joking, but I'm not joking because I'm deadly serious. It was a strange experience for me to be so annoyed by the opening scene of a movie and to watch the movie to the end.

Inspired by a real life story, the film is about a father who wants to reunite with his daughter but is constantly struggling with obstacles, and his ex-wife and a group of health center workers who take him hostage after he goes insane.

I skip the fiction aspect of the movie because it is inspired by real life. When I adapt the story to real life, I agree with the actions of Artan (Alexej Manvelov), who plays the role of the father, but when I think of a similar situation for my own life, I don't know what I can do.

A father's relationship with his daughter should not be interrupted unless it is life-threatening. What a person who is left helpless can do can be scaled by what he or she feels at the moment of helplessness. And only the person experiencing that helplessness can know that. No matter how much we empathize, we do not have the chance to feel exactly what they are going through.

For these reasons, I don't criticize the father and what he did, but let's talk about the scenes that turn into an expanding story after the main story of the film, here is where I use my right to criticize. It was ridiculous that the chain of events that started with a limited number of people being taken hostage at gunpoint in a room of a health center was carried outside.

I interpret it as the success of illegality that what could have been limited to a few people taken hostage in a room with a single pistol was extended to traffic and other cities after the requested vehicle was given. Then let every person in trouble put a gun to someone's head and list their demands!

After watching the movie A Day and a Half, I did some research on whose life the movie was inspired by because of some absurdities in the progression of the story. They scripted an event that happened four or five years ago and was described in a short article.

In the original story, a man takes his ex-wife hostage at the medical center where she works and tries to get her to tell him where his daughter is. The police arrive on the scene and solve the problem there. In other words, all the events that take place outside the medical center in the movie are completely fictional. I was relieved that the scenes I already saw as absurd were fictionalized. Even if he is right, the attempt to put a gun to someone's head and make them do whatever he wants has a place in fiction but has no place in real life!

I would definitely not watch the movie. I think it's a waste of time and one of the few worst Netflix movies I've ever seen.
