Facing One's Shadow

Hello guys. Here is a brief presentation on a psychological limiting factor referred to as the "shadow" according to Carl Jung's Analytical Psychology. This is a very important factor that clinical psychologists always seek to investigate when dealing with a client.

my shadow

In analytical psychology, the shadow is referred to either an unconscious aspect of the personality that the conscious ego does not identify in itself or one’s fully unconscious self-i.e. everything of one which is not fully conscious of.

Most people carry a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. According to Jung, the shadow is the unknown dark side of everyone’s personality.

This is usually part of people’s life they suppress. They hate to remember it because it arouses anxiety whenever they do.

The shadow is responsible for certain behaviors and aversions that people express even without knowing that those shadows are responsible for their actions.

Itmay not be pleasant facing these shadows, but one’s ability to face these shadows gives insight into the source of limitations intheir lives. The most Self-Actualized people in life have been heard to speak on how they have faced their shadows (unique to every individual), as it has helped to unveil the masks that are capable of limiting their lives.
We all have got the choice to do so.
