A warm welcome to everyone as we enter another week here on blurttradinghub.

The topic of concern this week is something that has been talked about over and over because of the very important nature of it.
Which is the subject of plagiarism, it's effects, how to spot them, how to avoid them amongst many others.

What is Plagiarism?

steemit-line-24.png

This is taking of someone of else's work and showing it off as your own without giving proper reference to the author. In basic terms this is simply stealing.

It doesn't matter which form it takes, whether it's texts or images once the work or idea isn't yours and you say it is, then you do not believe in the concept of hardwork.

It is present in different forms, the most notable of them is the copy and paste which is simply taking everything word for word, image for image without any changes and passing it off as yours.

The major problem facing this fight is because a lot of people are not aware of the concept of plagiarism and subsequently do not know they've committed a crime, while those who do it on purpose know the enforcement of punishments isn't taken very seriously.

Give 2 examples on how to make references to the original work.

• By properly sourcing your work
One of the ways to show the relation between the details in your work and those of the original author is to give the source.

Doing this shows other people reading your work the part that is your idea and where you have used the material of others.

It also shows that you respect the research done by the original owner enough to have used it as a point of reference in your own research.

• By citation
Using this you can copy a piece of another authors work and use it in your own but it is to be written in the form of a quote while stating the source of the work as well.

Give 3 causes of plagiarism and make a short on each.

steemit-line-24.png

• Laziness
This is one reason I believe is very common cause of plagiarism, people who do not believe in the work process but want to share in the rewards of someone else's idea.

They are too lazy to be creative hence they steal another person's work.

• Punishment
Although there are institutions which frown upon stealing of peoples work like the university, the enforcement of punishments for this crime is quite lacking in a lot of countries.

Inadequate punishment to serve as deterrent for other people looking to do it, has made many people to see it as a short cut to success.

If you've ever been the owner of any work you know the pride that comes off coming up with something by yourself.

• Understanding Hardwork
Then finding out someone else is using your idea as theirs, you can probably understand how it would feel. It is those who do not believe in hardwork that see plagiarism as a path.

What could cause a blog to be tagged plagiarised?

steemit-line-24.png

There are a number of reasons which a post can be said to be plagiarized, below are some of them

• Proper reference
Referencing your work tells us the materials which you have used for research and their authors, this gives an idea of how you came about your findings and who have done research on the topic you're working on.

• Showing Sources
When using ideas, images of texts that are not yours, but you're trying to make depiction of something.

It is important to show the source of what you're stating, by putting the website which you sources that information it is showing that although you have used that information it is not yours but from the source you have shown.

• Using Spinning websites
Some people have decided to use spinbot website, where they simply copy all of one authors work and spin it into other words.

In essence this is still a copied work because you have not done any research but only copy, paste and reworded another person's work while saying it is a new work.

It's now I'm understanding this. I was issued a warning letter for plagiarism. And since then @ctime has not upvoted me. I apologized and I'm still apologizing. I was new here and I didn't get to understand the term plagiarism. Please I promise not repeat the same mistake. I'm hoping for your upvote someday @ctime.
