Trust in business is as important as sun to a green plant because without light there would be no photosynthesis. Without trust no one will patronize you unless they do just once and that's just a small percent of customers. People patronize businesses because they can trust the business and also the product or service they provide. Not advertising one thing and providing another when they get the product delivered to their homes. From a customers point of view, I also have been a victim of lies and marketing ploys but off course they won't be getting a dime from me anymore because they broke my trust in their product or service.
Building trust in customers overtime through different ways from being sensitive to the customers wants and needs no matter how insignificant they might seem, treating them extra special. Trust is like a magnet that draws them closer to you and your business for a long time. When clients trust you, it helps your business stand out among other businesses to them. Its that extra cherry on the cake, the extra piece of cheese that makes it all taste better. It makes the customer feel secured and taken care of when they patronize you because they trust you will meet their needs beyond even their expectations. Keeping them loyal and coming back and in turn keep the profit rolling back in.
There are many ways to make customers trust in you, first would be creating more quality than they expect or pay for. Not just putting a product out there but a trustworthy product which creates a sense of trust in customers. For businesses that offer services, being trustworthy in your dealings with clients, being punctual, realistic and not faking or overselling your abilities or what exactly your business is about.
Trust in your business isn't something that is acquired once but rather grows with time especially in businesses that offer services. For example, in an hair salon, other than being the best hair stylist, being able to listen to your customers, meet their demands and treat them not just as customers alone but as a family of customers. Talking to them not just about what color of dye they prefer about other life issues that relate to them or even their work. Creating trust relationships which make them loyal to your salon and even coming back not just for a new hair cut but an advice on certain issues. With time they'll bring in their friends and family plus possibly link you with investors or even bigger clients.
