A curation project for quality comments would be great. Robust comment sections is what draws folks to Reddit and other blogs and such. That's really what a social media site should be doing, folks socializing for camaraderie, laughs and furthering knowledge sharing etc. I've often found that grossly lacking in the social blockchains for most posts, although many of the folks I had community with there did talk a lot in the comments.
I share your opinion, it is necessary to enhance social interaction through comments, this is something that enhances the internal economy of the platform and is something that very few users do today.
There are a few subs I go to read on Reddit several times per week. I don't have an account there anymore, but it's not uncommon for me to spend sometimes 20-30 minutes on one thread because of all the comments. No one there gets paid, and some do the opposite and pay real money to buy fake awards to pass out to posts and comments that are stellar. I've wondered why we can't get that same attitude here.
It's the same with artists and influencers too, really. You see them using donation models elsewhere. People will donate real currency to help support the artist/influencer. In those cases, the person pays and if they want to keep supporting they need pay again. Under our model, one can power up and keep using the same money to support again and again, while growing their own holdings and ability to support higher by the day. I struggle to understand why this system isn't already replacing normal channels.
On the other chains, flags played (and continue to play) a large source for this not manifesting, and I think Blurt has an opportunity, if it can shake off the years of bad will the other chain has created for the social blockchain.
I'm glad that you see it the same way. If we can start seeing posts grow huge via the comment sections with real humor and knowledge as the main focus instead of monetary intent, sites like Reddit will no longer dominate.
I think if people keep building their personal Blurt Power to over 100,000 it gets easier to distribute rewards to comments and really good original posts that are exclusive to Blurt ... once you get to 1 Million Blurt Power you can create Multiple Blurt Curation Projects ... and especially good comments. ... maybe the rewards algorithm could be adjusted so that rewarding comments yields higher rewards for upvoting comments ?
@BlurtCuration, of course ;-)
I really look forward to supporting more private initiatives. It isn't even about "curating"; I mean, how does one curate zero posts? Is more about communities, be they based on topics or location, or sometimes just one charismatic and motivational person!
I know quite a few such people joined within the last couple of months, but all they've seen are... issues! :-( So, as they joined for a reason, I hope to see them back again and building anew.
Hmmm ... not sure where you are seeing zero posts. I see tons of #Blurtart and #Blurtmusic posts.... blurt seems to be a place for artists...
Foundation accounts : blurtreviews, Blurtutorials
Private accounts: R2cornell and Blurthispano
Within what I observe on the blockchain, I would prefer not to create more foundation accounts and instead support more private initiatives or have users undertake projects which we can all support together.
Boost comments, vote on comments, hold more contests.
Agree. Pointless having more "community curation" accounts when there are no posts to curate. Let users start their own projects, then help with some delegations to projects that already exist and are working.
Exactly, a few days ago from the Spanish community we wanted to encourage users to create some kind of communities or own curation projects that do not have to depend on the foundation, this helps the content creator and the curator to strive to have visible communities. Here is a pending issue that we should take up again from the Spanish community. https://blurtter.com/blurt/@blurtlatam/programa-blurtstartup-or-blurtstartup-program-esp-eng
When I started on Steem I had zero. I built a community and later managed some token funds, that actually started life as a way to make curating more profitable and sustainable. So I know what it takes, but firstly it takes the will to do it - not the begging for delegations, that comes later to support good people managing good projects.
Exactly, everything will depend on whether the users really want to undertake new projects, depending on the quality of the project they decide to support. Currently in blurt there are very few projects or initiatives, I hope that in the near future there will be many.
btw I left a comment at your link. Has it developed at all? If the lead people keep compounding their earnings, projects can grow quite quickly while Blurt rewards are still high.
The BlurtStartup theme will be taken up again next week, when we publish the second announcement we will notify you, this week we have been with the contests for the month of April, we are trying to bring some dynamism to the communities.
I will try to convince the Foundation to halt funding new "curation accounts" unless there is real demand, such as actual posts! Instead, I think it far more fruitful to help new projects and communities that are either around a theme or even one motivational person.
But I wouldn't give anything to "ideas" - as we have discussed, we have all managed to make a success of various platforms by what we do, or have done. I would like to see any project start and be successful and then add some funding to speed it up.
This is what I did on Steem. I saw a gap in that there was a lot of help for newbies but almost nothing for minnows, hence I concentrated on bringing minnows together so that they could grow further.
I think the Curators of existing projects have to do more to get people posting with their Curation tags.
Excellent .... going to create a few more Curation Projects with my own Personal Blurt Wealth and some BitcoinCash generated on Noise.Cash .... so much BitcoinCash.... every day
Brilliant! Yes, with as little as 100,000 BP one can easily start one's own projects and communities. At current prices that's about $500.
Actually with as little as 50,000 Blurt Power ... I’ve got 3 going already .... #blurtlove #blurtbot and #canada ... until #blurtcanada goes live with 500,000
Something Blurt really needs is what PAL used to do on Steem - help newbies go through the whole process of getting noticed, interacting etc. This was extended then to various redfish/plankton contests that would track the growth of those new users - if I recall, paulag and abh12345 did those.
Yes ... the 30+ Curators could be doing this .... easily. It’s so easy.... just upvote good original content. Give more to minnows and red fish who want to build a strong Blog on Blurt.
It does get a bit harder as the number of posts increases, but yes, essentially is not a hard job to do well :-)
My favorite tags: blurtstory, r2cornell, blurtchef, blurtimals. To be honest, you published postings with some tags for several times or even many times, but you never got curation from those tags. My suggestions: blurtbook, blurtfilm, blurttv, etc.
Well... I post several times a day ... I have a million hobbies. But typically you only get rewarded once per day on many Curation projects.
