During his studies at Harvard in 1950. Kurt Richter placed some rats in a large container of water to test how long they could stay in the water.
(On average, rats leave the hull after 15 minutes and drown.)
Just before they gave up because of fatigue, the researchers would remove the rats, dry their bodies, and rest them for a few minutes.
And bring them back for the second round.
How long do you think the rat will survive in this second attempt? (Remember - just a few minutes ago they swam before they failed ...)
How long do you think it will last now? Another 15 minutes?
10 minutes?
5 minutes?
No!
60 hours!
Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either. It lasted 60 hours before leaving the hull. Because the rats believed they would eventually be rescued, they were able to push their bodies in a way that previously seemed impossible.
I will end with a summary: If hope can make tired rats swim for a long time, then what can be believed about oneself and one's own ability ??
