My Volunteering Work at Edonwik. About Edonwik island.

Edonwik is an island community in Eastern Obolo in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It is bounded to the North by the Atlantic Ocean. Going straight into the ocean will lead you to Brazil in America.

As observed by me, I think it will have a population of not more than 1000 people including children.

The Island is not linked to by road so all entry and exit from the island must be through water. As a result, the price of normal commodities outside the Island was almost triple, some double of its original price. There's however no market in the island except some people who displays goods in their thatch

The air in Edonwik is as original/purified as the one in Eden. They have very beautiful children, women and men. The people there are the most accommodating people I've ever seen. Their prominent occupation is fishing. At the beach in Edonwik, I caught a live fish with my bare hands. Lol.

The only borehole that served the island was in a sorry state. Some taps were faulty and there was no plans for repairs. As a result of poor maintenance, the water had a little taste. The borehole was donated by Mary Remarkable foundation.

Except our school which was built by Mary Remarkable foundation, every other buildings in Edonwik are made of thatch.
The Island will stretch more than 2.5Km²(guess).

Iko town is the nearest town to Edonwik.
Prior to when we went to the island, the children had to cross the water all the way to Iko to access school and other amenities like health care.

It was pretty hard to get the children's interest to come to school since everything was strange to them. The children were raised to become fishermen and fathers only.
We used rewards to spur the children's interest and it really worked out for us.

After our one week stay, we recorded a significant increase in children's population as we got 89 children who enrolled in our school. As a result, we exhausted the books, pens, pencils, sandals etc that we gave them all for free.

Our hostel was a luxury two bedroom apartment for the boys and a single room for the girls all constructed with thatch. It overlooked the beach so we had enough of breeze

My daily affirmation inspired by think and grow rich by Napoleon Hills

By August next year, I'm hoping to accumulate a net worth of $50,000 and monthly income in excess of $3,000.

I'll apply my thoughts in doing what gives me pleasure and growing rich from doing what gives me pleasure. Adventure gives me much pleasure then I'll device ways of growing rich through adventure.

To make this a reality, I'm willing to work for blurt blockchain if given the opportunity to showcase my skills. I Have talked to friends to join blurt even in the largest forum in Africa, Nairaland, and we have started having them here.
