Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
The use of children for hard labor in Nigeria is an heinous act that has ruined the development of many children both medically and educationally. This menace that is common among children between the age of five to ten years old keeps them on the streets, farms, sites, in people's houses either hawking, begging for alms, farming, hunting etc when they are supposed to be in school. It also affects their health due to the fact that most of these activities they do are too hard for their age.
It is hard to believe but it is true that there are little children who have to work several hours before they eat, and most times, these works are not meant to be for people of their age bracket. The money these children make in a day will be delivered to their parents or guardian and if the child does not earn enough, he or she may be deprived of food and also beaten for not working hard. There are cases of children who have died from working themselves out without proper health care. Oftentimes, the parents of these children are blind to the fact that their health is at stake and they need proper medical care.
The major cause of child labor in many countries, Nigeria, inclusive is because of the high rate of poverty. The economic situation of the country is the reason parents push their children out to the street to work. The parents of these children can not afford to pay their school fees, so they rather hawk on the streets rather than lazying around in the house. They also need all hands on deck to be able to eat in the house. So, they send their children to do all sorts of jobs without considering their age and health.
In addition, I'd not fail to mention that child labor is as a result of broken homes. Many parents have decide to go their seperate ways when they feel like their marriage is not sailing to the right direction. During these phases of their lives, they pay less attention to their children who later get abused, raped or engage in child labor. Some of these children may not have an option than to start working and catering for their needs since the parents are not available.
Polygamy is another cause of child labor around the world. In polygamy, it is normal for a man to marry more than one wives, and these wives will give birth to as many children as possible. If the parents can not take care of the needs of the children, they may be forced to leave the house to go and work in order to take care of themselves. The parents have a sense of relief because they have fewer people to cater for at the expense of their children roaming about on the streets, hawking, begging etc.
The issue of child labor is so bad that some children are trained to act as if they are blind, crippled or suffering from a deadly disease. They seek for funds from people using their fake disability.
The government are trying their best to curb these form of abuse on children but it seems their best isn't enough. There are many people who need to be persecuted for using children for hard labor.
