"Will you marry me"?, Joey asked as he looked into her eyes and smiled. "Are you serious?", Tammy asked feeling surprised and excited at the same time. Well, she knew something was up but she never thought it was going to be this.
"Oh yes, yes babe...I will marry you", she answered with so much happiness in her. He stood up from where he knelt, put the ring on her finger, hugged her as she was all emotional. Friends and family were so happy for them and in turn congratulated them.
Later that evening, Tammy started with dinner while Joey jumped into the bathroom to have a shower. Having prepared for dinner, she set the table then went to the room to see if Joey was done bathing so they could have dinner. Getting into the room, she heard the shower running so she knew he was still in there. As she turned to leave, she saw his shirt and pant at the edge of the bed, almost falling on the floor, so she bent to pick them in order to arrange them properly.
"I always tell him to keep his clothes properly but he never listen", she smiled and shook her head as she picked them up. She folded the shirt, placed it neatly on the bed, but as she picked the pants she felt something in one of the pocket. She reached for it and it was a phone, "whose phone is this?", it was her first time seeing the phone. So as not to be mistaken, she looked around and saw his phone on the dresser. "So whose.... babe...babe", she began to call when some messages came in and in order it read...
📩 John: what's up man?
Did you tell her already?
How did she react?
"Tell her? Who is the her? What is going on?", she thought to herself looking so confused....just then others came in.
📩 Nate: You are going to win the bet, lol.
You know I never doubted you could get her, I am just surprised you'd take it this far. But it makes the game more interesting lol.
📩 Dex: You know your game man, let's hangout this Friday....you already won the bet.
📩 John: Okay, I feel bad for her though.
Anger began to boil in her, "it was all a lie, he has been deceiving me all this while. How is this even possible", her body began to shake in fear, anger and confusion. Almost immediately, Joey walked in from the bathroom and as soon as he saw her holding the phone, he knew that was it.
"Babe, I can explain....it is really not what you think....babe, pls", he said trying to hold her hands.
"What is the meaning of these messages? Have you been playing games with me all this while....the love...the ring...", she was saying before he interrupted.
"No, it wasn't...I was initially but believe me I love you. Just sit babe, I can explain", he pleaded with her.
"Explain? You want to explain how you and your friends made a fool out of me just for you to win a bet and increase your ego? You want to explain how you asked me to marry you only for you to abandon me later?....I am such a fool, how did I not see?", she said crying bitterly.
"Baby, I agree that was my intention initially...it was all a game for me at first but listen, getting to know you changed everything. Your smile, your genuine care, the support you give to me.....babe you make me want to be a better person. I am sorry I hurt you, but I love you for real, I was going go tell you eventually....I was just scared I'd lose you", he said pleading with her and held onto her.
"I can't do this anymore, you won Joey", with that she walked out. In that moment, he knew she was someone he doesn't want to let go off....so he ran after her ready to right his wrong and get her back.
