ARE YOU A TEACHER?

I still remember how I answered the above question 3 times in one week.

Two different people asked me that question on the same day.

The third person asked on a different day in that same week. These people were those I have never met before.

The first day, I had thought there was a tag boldly written "TEACHER" at the back of my cloth because it was so unsual for me.

I wondered what these people saw in me that warrant that question.

As if that wasn't enough, I was asked again that same week by another person.

That was when I concluded that definitely, there must be something written somewhere that I can't see but others are seeing.

Whether spiritual or not I didn't even care to know because as for me, I knew can never teach.

Me? Teach? Haba na!

Me that hated teaching with passion.

I hated standing in front of people to talk.

I hated those Nicknames students attached to teachers.

I didn't want to be the next "madam reproduction" and the likes.

Poor me.

Did I even know the true meaning of the word "teacher" then?

I always thought the word teacher begins and ends in the classroom.

I thought teachers were only those who stay in the staff room, discuss and flog students.

Now, I realized that we are all teachers.

Everyday we teach people with our knowledge and from our wisdom.

When we communicate, we teach.

When we give godly counsel or advice, we teach.

When we give directions to people we teach.

When we show kindness we teach.

Our actions, manners, conduct and attitude are all teaching people on daily basis, whether positively or negatively.

We teach in different ways every blessed day.

Every action that we take, leaves a lesson in minds of people?

Our kind of teaching doesn't need a classroom.

I hope this will give you a new perception about teaching and who a teacher is.
